My Fellow Democrats!
I am a local labor leader and activist in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex and a proud graduate of the Ruth Ellinger Labor Leaders School of the Texas AFL-CIO. I am also a PROUD DEMOCRAT! I was elected in 2020 to serve as your Senate District 9 Committeeman, during one of the most difficult times in our country in the middle of a pandemic.
I hope that you and your families are continuing to do well and stay safe during these trying times.
I am descended from migrant workers spanning multiple generations in Texas. We were farmers, ranchers, part of the restaurant business and also active in our communities. I was born in Dallas and have lived my entire 43 years here in DFW. I now reside in Fort Worth, Texas with my wife, Heather Buen, and our blended family of six dynamic children.
I am a Union Electrician employed by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. I spend much of my time and energy building bridges and relationships within the community, Democratic Politics and the Labor Movement.
“There’s a direct relationship between the ballot box and the bread box, and what the union fights for and wins at the bargaining table can be taken away in the legislative halls.”
- Walter Reuther
I believe that all Texas families should have a fair shot, deserve economic security and safe working conditions.
Democratic Party Activism
I am a sustaining member of the Tarrant County Democratic Party (TCDP) and the Dallas County Democratic Party. I was a House District Coordinator for State House District 93 and a Democratic Neighborhood Leader for Precincts 1197 and 1701. I am the co-chair for the TCDP Labor Relations Advisory Committee and a founding sponsor and member of the TCDP LatinX Voter Outreach Committee.
In 2018, with the Tarrant County Central Labor Council Field Campaign, I volunteered in blockwalks and phonebanks as we reached out to 80,000 voters to help get State Senator Beverly Powell elected in Senate District 10. We led a panel discussion and blockwalked for State Senator Nathan Johnson in Senate District 16.
In 2019, I led my district’s phonebanks to help get Lorraine Birabil elected in the special election for House District 100. In 2020, I helped raise thousands of dollars for the Tarrant County Democratic Party for the purposes of holding the county convention.
Over the years, I have blockwalked for the following candidates and for the Democratic Party in the following cities and regions:
Local/Municipal
Cindy Shepard for Hurst City Council
Aisha Ojha for HEB ISD
Deborah Peoples for Mayor - Fort Worth
Coalition for a Better Arlington - Arlington Municipal elections

Why I ran for Committeeman?
The SDEC votes on statutory and interim business of the Texas Democratic Party. I want to do more than just observe and report. As a current delegate with the Tarrant County Central Labor Council, I already represent about 35,000 union members and I have the knowledge and experience to best represent you. I am not only your representative but I am your advocate at the SDEC. Learn about what a Committeeman actually does and more about why I am running.
